TM doesn't let me go online

Post by »Enryx« » 18 Feb 2015 10:13

So basically that's it, I can't connect to masterserver anymore

Here's a screenshot of the error http://i.imgur.com/XRaPYtJ.jpg
It happens before choosing the account (so this is nothing related to accounts)

It happens since like 2/3 weeks, I don't open TM everyday but everytime I opened it I had this error so I'd say something must be wrong.

Of course, it used to work before
I changed nothing in my router settings
I changed provider but that was time ago, shouldn't be related
P2P works (I have Soulseek and/or Torrent running most of time (and they aren't the cause, I tried to turn them off and didn't change))
I have AVG free antivirus and no firewalls... and I had it like this before too, when TM could go online

:ftw:

Any tip is welcome

Cheers

EDIT

I read the masterserver was down sometimes but now it doesn't seem the case
I see plenty of people online ( http://dedimania.net/tmstats/?do=stat )

12029 is connection timeout - server unreachable, normally.

This error can have the following causes:
- IE (or Windows Internet settings) in offline mode
- another program is blocking ports 80 or 443 or other ports ManiaPlanet needs (can e.g. happen with XAMPP or chat applications, not only streaming programs)

Try running ManiaPlanet before you start anything else, also check your autostart.
And when you close any already running applications, the ports are still in use for some time (TCP timeout and end wait), so you can't directly start ManiaPlanet then. Better wait for 2~5 minutes.

Sooo if I launch TM before anything I can go online :roflol:

How do I find out what application is interfering?

I tried to run torrent for some time and then launch TM and I get 12029'd so yea it's probably that.
I tried to change the port used for incoming connections (it was something like 19243 now it's 26178 I dont even know how ports work)
I will see what changes

So basically I get 12029 even if I open Firefox like wtf

I wanted to play TMX KO yesterday so I rebooted PC and opened TM first, it let me go online and play
Meanwhile I open Firefox to lose time, it doesnt disconnect me or anything
As soon as I leave the server I get 12029 on main menu (no news) and I can't go on online play

Yea it's quite annoying :D

Firefox itself does not cause any issue, because I also often have it running in parallel, e.g. for the official ManiaPlanet forum ;-)

Either it is a plugin you have installed, or some "special" page you're visiting, that leads to a block of maniaPlanet.

Use admin rights to launch cmd, and there run the command
netstat -nab
this will give a list of open ports and which applications are using them.

Thanks

I ran that but I'm not sure what to search for

Nothing in local address is using ports 80 or 443, however. All addresses are like 127.0.0.1:[some number over 50000] or 192.168.1.3:[some number over 50000]

And atm I can connect

I'll see what is using those ports when I can't connect
