What would be your first custom block?

Post by Woutertje » 12 Oct 2009 16:28

It seems there will be a block editor in TM2 and so it would be fun to say what your first block would be if you make one.
I would make my stuffed animal Meneer Konijn (translated in english: Mister Bunny) because i have him since i was born, in 1998.
And what yours?

Would a block have to be a road piece? I think block may also include scenery, not that i would be able to model anything my self but would be nice to start thinking about other things like buildings, traffic light (although they'd have no real use), maybe so other drivable items whatever they may be...... would be nice just to ad that little bit extra realism for video making

I would quite like to build a whole group of blocks which could make a sort of Wipeout themed mini environment.

You can too make RPG parts. Then you dont need to mix em!

Based on what iv'e heard you wont be able to do such a block. My freind told me that the 2 types of blocks in TM2 are non editable blocks and editable blocks so basiclly you will probably be able to edit existing blocks but not make completely new ones. But i would probably edit some block into some transition stuff^^

No, you will be able to make any shaped block you like. But it will be constrained to a certain format and settings. Just like how custom car models are right now. There's a model hierarchy and specific settings you have to follow.

On topic, my first block would be end loop pieces who's top's are angled a little bit more upwards, so high speed loop to loop jumps can't hook your back tires and mess up.

I would make something that crashes the game

After that, maybe combinations of existing blocks or something.

For some reason, that made me think. Maybe I'd make a bunch of giant house parts and have the cars race around a house from room to room :) .

I wonder if your able to make start, finish, and lap pieces... And boost pieces?

Or you make a very big house so you dont have to make big pieces but all at once ^^

If I recall, Nadeo said there probably won't be a block editor in-game, but people will have to use external programs (such as Blender, 3D Max, Maya) and import the blocks created there.

Regardless, if I get the hang of blockmaking, I will certainly start making some Stadium blocks for whichever env. ends up closest to stadium (and if it doesn't include stadium blocks. :roflol: )

Most likely a huge loop. with poles in the middle, (so you have to dodge them upside down)

I bet a bunch of us will just start making mixblocks that are actual blocks :roflol:

And a proper corkscrew loop (think the quarterpipe loops used on fullspeed maps) wouldn't go amiss. =D
