damage to vehicles?

Post by runnygunny » 18 Nov 2009 20:49

this could be a  :3 :1 :pil :lovetm :?: n option, when you hit edges of the tracks your car will have dents on the sides and bumps. I think we should also have a collision option. Also if the car flips over when the option is turned on, it can also burn to flames and respawn.

I'm up for aesthetic car damage, with maybe gameplay affecting car damage as an option...

Collisions? No. You'd need multiple start lines, wider roads... basically the hole game would need to be redone!

But yes, I am up for car damage :D

saying "let's have damage on trackmania" is equal to "let's not make trackmania(as it should be)"
Damage is just the part of the game goddamnit. what would be with press forward, press nothing or tracks like those? what would be with stunts? the jumps would be a pain in the ass then and lots of other stuff :S

hmm, damage would be cool, but only if it affected the look of the vehicle and not affecting gameplay...
i quote Chralex completely

I agree with this sentiment. But I am also against damage for online racing. The extra server overhead might have a huge impact. If the player's machine kept track of the damage then there would be much hacking to turn off damage so that a person would have an advantage over other drivers.
Why put in damage if people will just try to turn it off?

collision...well collisions is basically the oposite of TM 'cause we cant colide to eachother so that we don't screw up our times and basically would be a distaction :) , and dmage well its crazy but as long that doesnt affect the game or/and the player

Nor do we need damage because of the car-import function as Ming already stated...

i look at this one simple way...

damage modeling + user model creations = one big mess.

yes fair enough you could have local damage and no collisions .. but how could you possibly then make all the player contributions in TM style all work ... this would over complicate the model importing proccess for far too many creators from carpark and such ... it would kill the community creativity and lockdown what has allways been an "open form" game...

damage is not the problem .. peoples creations, ability to create or lack of time to create is ...

I see what you mean on this one..... this would not involve anything in modelling just skinning in the same way as the dirt happens in stadium, nice idea
