I see what you mean on this one..... this would not involve anything in modelling just skinning in the same way as the dirt happens in stadium, nice idea
But while we're at it - you could also allow people to mark areas of the car as deformable, then dent the model there a bit when you crash into something...

(You'd probably would need to at least mark glass somehow since metal scratches on the glass probably won't look very convincing... :D)

I think that was only in the very first Trackmania that was released, not TMO - IIRC the door of the speed car would open and flap around when you crashed too hard. (But don't quote me on this, it's been years since I last played that version...)

Well I never played TMO or the game before..well maybe 1 track but i download the TMNF and forgot that.IDK if there damage or not, but the fact is that DAMAGE will probably distract the player from the race...That's not a good thing and that COULD also be a reason why nadeo giva up the damage

Not convinced, I don't see doors "flapping", evidence?

If the cars crash, i think the population of TM will go down. TM designed for kids, yes?

hum...no

Most of the people that i know that play Tm go from ages from 12~~37 but

TM ain't just for kids..

i know people with 60+ that play

its universal, every1 can play

but the thing is that crashes AIN't "Natural" in TM, it just distracts and also low the people skills in driving ^^

Original TM beta--this never made it into any official game.

ill take a look on my old computer....i have (had) a video of me driving round....the bonet, boot and left (i think) door would open and flap about, this was on Track Mania and Track Mania Power Up

if u can find a Track Mania Power Up demo...i think that would prove to u it did make it into the game...it didnt really distract...or affect how the car handeled

well if it did, the game would be a racing simulation and not the arcade-ish addictive racing game that some of us grown up with. i think it's better this way but since you cant draw a clear line between an arcade and simulation of racing it's better to just stick with what trackmaniac's love the most:
something that is close to a simulation (w/o manual gears), but still fun to play (easy and controlable). TM2 would need to have the same phisics and blocks so that it will be compatibe with TMF, this way we can play tmf tracks on tm2, this way people will like tm2 more and tmf will still be an active gaming environment, just like tmn-eswc.

so, no! to damage and NO! to them having influences on driving.

I'm for damages in singlepayer mode, but it cannot incluence on acceleration, steering and other paramaters of the car (also its "maxbox" size) - it would be only graphical influence. I'm also against damages in multiplayer mode because of additional data, which must be transfered to server and to players.
