I thought of TM2 having the sky change from day to night.

It would be cool if the sky could change from morning to noon to night in one race, and be coordinated to the clock on your computer like in Lego Creator. There should also be some sort of random weather feature so that it could go from a clear sky, to cloudy sky, to complete rainstorm in a few minutes on a server.

the first option above will be available and this has been known since the first announcement, why dont people do the research first? the second is an unknown but possible sonicwii.

What I meant was that the game should be synced to the Internet in more ways than just online racing. I already said that the game should be able to read the clock on your computer, but I didn't say how the weather feature would work. On the in-game signup screen, there should be a feature that requests information as if you were buying something online. It would ask for your state, and city or zip (postal) cord and it would only be used for the game system, not for public view. The information would be used
if the player creates a game server to gather weather information from the Internet (i.e. Weatherbug) to place weather conditions on the tracks. Of course, this could be turned off by the player that set up the server if some of the tracks would be impossible or nearly impossible to drive in special conditions.

I saw the video, but I wasn't sure if it was showing gameplay on one
track with a changing time-of-day or a series of tracks set at different times.

i like the idea of the "synching" with the weather and locality but ... i see one problem ... this will rely on a 3rd party, if nadeo/ubisoft rely on a 3rd party for the information there is no 100% certainty of support in the long term ...

..maybe not somethign they would like to touch. just a thought because if i was them i wouldnt hehe.

in a sense .. look at the logistics of providing a feature before requesting one

It has been confirmed that sun is an in-game object whose position can be altered dynamicaly by the new Mania-Script functions (probably as part of the new Medi-Tracker). The net result is that you can start a single race in the morning and as the race progresses it becomes noon, evening and eventualy night, or any sequence/combo you wish. The in-game video you have seen was a single output from the new replay-shooter showing it happening in real-time, it was`nt a collection of vids bolted together but one single race.

This was all in the early posts made over the first few days since the announcement as well as some details on some other new functions.

yeah the maniascript thing might help somewhat ...removing the need for relying on a 3rd party service.

Least its another tool to use for the map mapmakers out there, if you have the time to code it up will be pretty cool :D
