Dunno if this is true, but i found this one here.
Trackmania 2 for PC will feature innovative content purchasing options

Regarding Trackmania 2, Guillemot noted that that Nadeo's 2010-due over-the-top racing game sequel will have "both an offline and online purchasing model."

Das kontroverse DRM-System von Ubisoft, bei dem ihr dauerhaft online sein müsst, um ein Spiel zu spielen (wir berichteten), wird in folgenden Titeln verwendet: Splinter Cell: Conviction , Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic , Assassin's Creed II (PC), Die Siedler 7 , Prince of Persia: Die vergessene Zeit und Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
http://www.4players.de/4players.php/spi ... isoft.html

In english: Following games will use the new DRM system: Splinter Cell: Conviction , Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic , Assassin's Creed II (PC), The Settlers 7 , Prince of Persia: forgotten Sands and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

I hope, this list is exhaustive :D

No point in cheering until it's actually released. That list is by definition not complete, because game development is an ongoing process and decisions to incorporate this draconian DRM can be made for any other game when it's closer to release. If anything, the list is merely an indication that TM2 is not close to release.

Super sweet..... but just to go back a few steps to all those who said i don't mid, i don't care and wont even take a moment to view the link here is a quote from the site that emphasizes why we should worry
Additionally, save game files are now stored on UbiSoft servers. This new system has angered long-time fans who are rightfully pissed off that this new procedure will undermine the integrity of their game, i.e., lose Internet connection and you can’t play the game, or Ubisoft servers take a hike and you’re left holding your dick.

well, they were literally asking for it, weren't they ?

with that much silly public relation about a new unbreakable blah-drm-whatever protection, it was obvious some old schoolers would feel urged to target this mechanism within no time.
i'm happy to see that SR, true veterans, have dealt with this issue, handing out some flying *ssdrumming within 0 days from the release.

battle stats since 1981:
crackers: x + 1 copyprotectors: 0

where x is a random number between 1 gazillion and 999 magicillion.

lol, I want buying things like tracks, skins, etc. optionally. Meaning that you can download skins for free at TM-Carpark, tracks for free at TMX, mods for free at TM-MOD, tutorials for free at TM-creative :P and have the possibility of not necessary paying.
For example: I am very unhappy because of the high price of Rumpelbube's big city stuff etc. I so want to download this cute plane model to use it in my tracks as secondary scenery but since it's too expensive for me (lol im poor  )...
So that paying is an optional task like.... ugh..... donating :)

I will definitely NOT pay real money for things which I can get for free in TM, like tracks, skins, mods etc.

That might just work for new enviros.
