Is there anyway using CS3e to preview a car you are skinning if all you have is the packaged car with the gbx files? ex: reskinning a car from CarPark

no.
The car geometry isn't a suported format by cs3.
It only suports some popular formats. Like "3ds".

If you'll take a look at my tutorial you will find the 3ds file and you'll understand if you have a 3d prog.

interesting thing... but i test my textures directly in game so i can see how it look in game ligts etc....

But cs3 include lights from 3ds files.

yes but i need to know how it looks in lights in game and with reflections and so.. so for me is better test it in game...

Photoshop tends to be backward compatable with its psd files as a rule..
If the template you have isn't a .psd file, grab the (photoshop) template here http://www.trackmania-carpark.com/car.php?id=859

NOTE: most other templates on carpark are a single image as a wireframe and a second image used for the prelight. These can be more difficult if you don't know PS compared to other graphic apps.
