TMNF 2d Skin qiestion

Hi,

I was wondering if TMNF allows others to see 2D skins?When you put them in the same folder as of the ones where you paint your car (stadium car folder)?

Or is there absolutely no way of showing another custom 2D skin but only the ones you paint yourselves?

As far as I know the answer is if you don't have a United account then no your skin will not be shown to other players.

But if you make a track and have a embedded replay and use a car with a custom skin and use a locator file and put it on the web then others will see your car in the replay if they play your track online or offline.

I thought that if you put the skin in the folder of the skins you painted it would act like one you painted

(still, if the ones you paint shows)

In United and Nations the painted Stadium car skin goes into your My Documents\TrackMania\Skins\Vehicles\StadiumCar folder. If you have peer to peer port forwarding on your system and network then eventually your painted skin would be passed to other players. That is how it works. Yes, you understand it correctly. But that is slow and can lag your system if you are on a busy server.

Most active players upload their skins to a file up-loader that offers direct downloads. They then make a locator for the skin. That is the URL for the file put into a text document and renamed (SkinNameHere).zip.loc
This is placed into the directory with your car skin. when you select the skin in your profile it will pick up the locator with the car. Then all your system has to do is to pass the locator to the other players and they download the sking form the up-loader instead of your system.

But you still have to have ports forwarded so that you can pass the locator and you still need United. I think you can download it from Steam for a reasonable price.
