The CPU is not the problem at all. TMS runs on my Desktop and Laptop. Both have Windows 7 64 Bit and Intel core i7. I think the problem on Windows 7 is the graphics card. It probably doesn't detect GeForce.
The trick is to select "Intel HD Graphics" for TMS. The graphic is still good enogh because the game is old and it doesn't need a lot of graphics performance.

First off all a tipp:
7. after rebooting your system windows will say there's a incompatible driver blocked. Ignore this.
his message will appear every time you logon to your system but is doesn't do any harm.
You can simply turn off this message.
1. Click on the arrow on the taskbar.
2. Click on "Customize..."
3. On the list scroll to "Host Process for Windows Schedules" and select "Hide symbol and Notifications"
4. Click "OK"

RUN TMS ON DESKTOP (Intel core i3/5/7)
On the Desktop it is not so easy to explain. You need a Software that is called "Lucid Virtu". This is the website of the Software:
http://lucidlogix.com/product-virtu-gpu.html.
You need to install this Software and change some settings on BIOS: (if you have a CD/DVD from your Mainboard then it maybe contains this Software.)
igpu multi-monitor -> enabled
primary display -> auto

After that you can choose for each game which graphic should be used. For TM Sunrise choose "Intel HD Graphics".

RUN TMS ON LAPTOP (Intel core i3/5/7 + GeForce)
On the Laptop it is much easier. Laptops use the Optimus Technology of Nvidia. So you can simply decide if the game should use "Intel HD Graphics" or "Nvidia GeForce".
1. Launch the "Nvidia Control Panel". (right click on desktop)
2. Go to "3D Settings".
3. Click on "Add"
4. Choose "tmsunriselauncher.exe" from the TMS directory.
5. Do the same with "tmsunrise.exe".
6. For both choose "Integrated Graphics" from the bottom dropdown menu.
7. Click on "Apply"
(For AMD graphics the technology is called "AMD Dynamic Switchable Graphics".)

SETTINGS
I recommend using these settings in TMS:
shader quality=0
anti aliasing=off

I hope that I could help some users.

About Windows 8: I don't know if it works on Windows 8. I haven't got Windows 8. So I can't test. :(
Maybe someone who has Windows 8 can test it on the Laptop with my manual. That would be great!

  • - Did you try to install TM Sunrise like described?
  • - What hardware do you have? CPU? GPU? RAM? Laptop or Desktop?
  • - When it works in Windows 7 it should also work in Windows 8/8.1 but I'm not 100% sure. I can't test it because I haven't got Windows 8 or 8.1

possible cause why it does not work:
  • - Graphics Card is not supported. Then you must use your onboard graphics. Read my previous post for more information.
NO causes:
  • - 32 Bit or 64 Bit, it doesn't matter
  • - Which version of Windows 7, it doesn't matter
  • - with or without service pack, it doesn't matter
  • - which language (Windows and TM Sunrise, I have both in german), it doesn't matter
  • - The processor doesn't make problems. I have Intel core i7 which works.
  • - fullscreen or windows mode, it's the same

Someone made a video about this tutorial and uploaded it to Youtube: Click here
The guy has GeForce 315 and 64Bit Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1. So NVIDIA GPU should not be the problem in general. But in my case it didn't work with GeForce GTX 680. :(

I have some more tips: (The tips could also be helpful in general for other old games in Windows 7)
  • - Don't start installation from autorun after inserting disc or mounting ISO. Open the disc in Explorer then right click on "TmSunriseSetup.exe" and "run as Administrator".
  • - Install the DirectX components from the disc located in "Dx9.0c Redist -> DirectX9" folder
  • - Download and install this here: DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)
This helped me to solve a problem with Need For Speed Carbon in Windows 7. It crashed after a few minutes but after installation of this Runtimes I didn't crash anymore. :)
  • - Run both "TmSunrise.exe" and "TmSunriseLauncher.exe" as Administrator. Also try it in compatibility mode. For example: GTA San Andreas only runs correctly in Windows 98/ME mode.
If it really doesn't work at all, then you have these alternatives:
  • - Install Windows XP with dual boot
  • - Install Windows XP in Virtual Box. Enable hardware 3d acceleration and install the Guest Additions. It looks not bad. Really!

Hi, before 1,5 year i have win7. TMS can run without problems with this description.
On Win8/8.1 are differences. ""7. after rebooting your system windows will say there's a incompatible driver blocked. Ignore this."" This does not appear to me. Second difference: In step 14, the show has me install additional libraries. NO! I get an what I told the player Nicmart: This program Requires Win95-...... Server2003.

It looks like Frontline problem (also Nicmart screen )

Any other possibilities by you is dysfunctional.

I have laptop. Win8.1 Pro with Media Center x64, 4GB RAM, Intel core i5 ,2,53GHz, Nvidia Geforce 310M.

It seems that it will not start. Too bad there is no for TMS extensive modifications, as is the case with TMO. TMO runs on Win8.1 :) viewtopic.php?f=25&p=211965#p211965

Any other ideas? I'll try to contact f0xn. Perhaps help.

I also tried all the procedures a little something new, but nothing helped. Interestingly, the older TMOriginal goes. But as TMNationsESWC also impossible.

Hi, I just registered too to get some help. I have Windows 8.1 64 bit and an i7 processor. On Step 15 (Launch TmSunrise.exe) it says that I need either Windows 95 OSR 2.1, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, XP or Server 2003 to start the program? Do you have tips?
