It seems Nadeo underestimated the power of the community in 2 important ways;

1-It seems some kinds of temporarily workarounds are in the pipeline for all to keep on playing their favourite servers, give it some more time and i am sure simpler and more convenient solutions will appear.

Questions is; will Florent/Nadeo decide to close these "loopholes" as well?

2-It also seems they underestimated the power of the free TM-users and the entire TM-community. Servers are now almost empty. Who will keep on hosting servers at a cost (power and bandwith) that no-one or just a few visits? What trackbuilder will keep on creating awesome tracks for just a small number of users? What skinmaker/3d-artist will invest time in creating new skins/vehicles that only a few people will see? Which TMU-player will keep the interest in a game with no new curious players or noobs to play with?

It was said in an earlier post that Nadeo had never in the past let the community down and invested a lot in growing the community.

Combine this with what i think is common for all of us here; we all understand the reasons behind it, Nadeo needs to make more money. Hey, why don't you show us some respect and simply reach out to us and be frank about it? instead you say that because you have too much to do you needed to make a quick decision? Well, guess what? You have pissed off the majority of the community saying what you did was short-thinked and done in a bad way. And also pls don't forget all TMNF-players out there that right now don't see and are not able to connect to their favourite servers......! Chances are they say "to h*** with you TM and thats it.

Florent/Nadeo, do us all a favour. Redo this drastic change before we see a shutdown of servers and a damage to the community that will be hard to fix. Instead invite some key people of the community, Clanleaders, servershosts, organisations etc to an open discussion on how the issue can be resolved TO THE BEST OF THE COMMUNITY. Seems to me right now you are forgetting who got you where you are today......

here is my new servername change plugin but it doesnt work :cry:

Code: Select all

<?php
Aseco::registerEvent('onStartup', 'rename_server');

function rename_server($aseco)
{
$servername = $aseco->server->name;
$serverlogin = $aseco->server->serverlogin;
$tmtp = '$l[tmtp://#addfavourite=';
$tmtpend = ']';
$replace = $tmtp . $serverlogin . $tmtpend . $servername;
$name = preg_replace($servername, $replace, $name);
$aseco->client->query('SetServerName', $name);
}
?>
it just sets the name to NULL (nothing), where is the problem?

Why not making a semi payed TM.
Like "TMN-Full"
And sell that for a lower price (as it has no tmu environments) and make a possibility to buy it with coppers.
I will gladly spend my coppers to keep my team alive.
Make it cheaper for organisations too.
That way you help keeping important teams/people in the game/community, so that it will be attractive for other free players to buy the game, as they know there is an active community to join...

Nice alternative but coppers cant be the same as dollars or euros

Agreed

Ive been talking to the members in the clan im apart of, and well more made a post, seeing if they wanna go to TMN, im hoping it comes that way, i wanna see more people go to that and show nadeo that they just **** up on tmnf cause of this.

Even united players will go down cause there friends are playing tmn as they cant play tmnf the way it was.

Going back to TMN ESWC wont help at all, rather hurt the small chances TMNF still got even more.. The game is not ruined in the terms of eSport, but instead of whining and going back to the old TMN, you should give Nadeo some time to explain themselves and see if they will come with a few improvements.

I hope that nadeo will make it free again, like EA did with NFS World, it was only limited version with free account (till 10 lvl) and then EA removed level limit

Why not try as a community to get sponsors

this decision of nadeo saddens to me.

I am from Mexico and I have played trackmania since two years.

ever since I played for the first time, I work strong to create
a community in Mexico in the game of trackmania, inviting to friends, clans and finally I did effort to put a pair of Trackmania Servers on line.

this was a personal effort since as knows well it requires of resources, these resources cost money:

1. - a Server (computer), costs money.
2. - electricity, costs money.
3. - OS, costs money.
4. - Broadband Internet conection, monthly rent, costs money.

this effort to have in Mexico two servers and to create a community of trackmania in my country.

with this decision nobody enters the server any more, the players does not know how, nadeo mentions a way to be able to enter, but, i doubt that a new player, understands of "favorite" , " manialinks" or special typical of the game.

to spend all this money to maintain a Trackmania Server
who to you them aid in promoting trackmania free of charge without we receive nothing,

unfortunately i close both servers in the zone of Mexico, I cannot spend more money in my server if nobody plays in.

for these reasons, also nadeo affected the people like I, had a Trackmania Server on line.

Wow!

I had noticed the FreeZone 50k servers and have seen them filling up the first few pages of servers online, but had no idea what (or who) ran them. Now, with 35 pages of comments regarding this matter here, I can only say that it's about time. This was obviously a tough decision on Nadeo's part, but with MS closing a corporation they recently bought, what other choice is there? It affects many.

This should have been the way from the start; a "teaser" for those who play for free, to entice them into purchasing the game. Nadeo is a business and not a charity. Community and goodwill go so far but do not pay salaries or overhead, so decisions like this are inevitable sooner or later.

No doubt there will be many many more complaints and probably a few more endorsements on this matter, but facts are facts, there is no going back now. Hopefully it will affect Nadeo in a positive manner with more purchases, and not "destroy the community" as some of the nations players posting here have said.

Cheers and good luck.
