Dedicated Server Help - Windows Server 2003 Remote

Post by mikensam » 16 Mar 2009 17:22

Hi Guys,

Hope you can help.

I have setup the dedi server on our server that hosts many games like cod4, cod5 etc but for the life of me I cannot get this working.

I want to get a server for Trackmania Nations Forever running (the free game).

The installed server files I used are TrackmaniaServer_2008-12-05 and is installed on a Windows 2003 Server machine with no firewall except the Windows Firewall sat in a datacenter in London. (I connect to it via RDC).

I have edited the config correctly and started the server, I can see from the logs that it is running and even had 2 people join at some point.

I can also use ServerMania to connect and see the game is running perfectly.

Problem is, when I launch Trackmania Nations Forever and search the name of the server KillerBadgers It doesnt show up.

I have opened 2350, 3450 & 5000 as described in many threads here.

Because people have joined it Im thinking maybe something wrong with my home PC but I can view hundreds of servers in the list, just not ours?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance.

I just looked at it online and it is set as a United server, that is why you can't see it from TMNF.

Set the packmask in dedicated_cfg to Stadium or Nations and it will show for you.

are you sure you're searching right?
how are you searching for your server?
as much as the trackmanias may rule, carmageddon 1 & 2 are still the best games ever :D

I have put the packmask thing in on dedicated.cfg file, is that the correct place to put it?

In reply to the other guy, I am clicking online then all, then click the little round search button.

Putting KillerBadgers and hitting search

= nothing :(

Also,

there wasnt actually a packmask entry in the server config so I just added it to the server options, this is the entry I made

<packmask>Nations</packmask>

That look ok?

I have changed to stadium does upper or lower case matter?

I can post whole config here if needed.

The first chap said it was live on United thats why I cant see it, I dont have United so could someone check if its still registering as United?

Thanks again chaps :)

Not correct, both have the same effect of defining a Stadium-only server.
