I've worked on the addendum document for a next update, but i'm not placing it online yet, to avoid confusion. The tmdedicated relayed spectator server is still in beta, and I'm waiting untill this is working well: also this way I'll be able to prepare a start kit with the latest server build.

hehe,

you need to read the addendum as well if you want to make a dedicated server for tmu-f. The original document was for TMU.

It's a psychological thing. An addendum just changes your knowledge if you want to know how tmu-f dedicated server is different from the 'original'.

I cannot seem to get the server started!

Code: Select all

Starting TmForever v2008-12-05...
Initializing...
Loading system configuration...
...ERROR: No configuration file.
...Could not load the system configuration
Loading cache...
...OK
Listening for xml-rpc commands on port 5000.
Trackmania server daemon started with pid=3300 (parent=3246).
I've no idea what i'm doing wrong.

I started it by typing: ./TrackmaniaServer

You didn't include the required config and matchsettings parameters. See this post.

Hi Guys,

This is going to sound stupid and I apologise for necro posting:

I'm trying to set up a trackmania server for a lan event that I'm holding at the weekend. So I followed the instructions in the pdf's in this thread and tried to wget from ds.bemaniacs.org, but no matter how I try, the server can't be found. I've tried pinging it, ftping it, hell I even googled it. The server is either dead, or the DNS is screwed.

Can someone please help?

This tutorial is rather outdated, and you'd need server knowledge to determine what info still applies and what doesn't - which is somewhat counter-productive for a tutorial.
For starters, that .org link was just a mirror anyway, and it's always better to go to the official source, which in this case is listed in the Announcement posts in the Toolbox forum. Which one you can use depends on whether you're trying to set up a TM Forever server (most likely), or classic TMN ESWC (unlikely but the topic of the main PDF with that link). Follow the relevant post and guides/tutorials mentioned within.
