Actually, why Nadeo takes 10%?

Post by Kumagoro » 02 May 2008 18:17

I mean what's the point? I guess Nadeo can make CP with a flick of a finger, what do coppers actually give, it makes me wonder...

its to keep the Trackmania economy in balance. What can they just print their own coppers? That would cause inflation and it's already crazy how much it costs me to keep gas in my cars, replace the tires, etc. Plus I got a family to feed.

Think these things thru man!

(lol I have no idea why they would skim coppers off the top)

And who needs coppers if you got stuff like TMX, TM-mod, TM-carpark etc.

Probably because it costs them actual resources to do those actions, so they make sure players can't do it unlimited by taking coppers away, the same principle as for official times, zone changes, and such.

^ This, it's just a way to curb server load.

I dont understand how taking 10% away from the "sale" of a track would curb server load at all. (this all presupposes that it's true that for the "sale" of a track, Nadeo takes 10%). If someone wants to buy the track from another author, they will do so with our without this tax, right?

Am I not understanding how this works?

all it does is reduce the total copper count when coppers are used.
new coppers are constantly being added to the game, this little mechanism makes sure that when they are used, some coppers are really lost again. otherwise there'd probably soon be a huge inflation because the total coppercount keeps rising...
as much as the trackmanias may rule, carmageddon 1 & 2 are still the best games ever :D

Coppers are stored on their servers, so anything that involves coppers uses their servers. The manialinks system also works through their servers (you type a manialink name but the nadeo server has to be contacted to get the actual URL of the maniapage).

Sure I understand that. I'm just saying that I don't understand how deducting 10% will alleviate server loading that's all. The "sale" would happen with or without it imo.

Less sales will happen when coppers are limited.
