Which analog device to use with TMU ??

Post by bcbeyhan » 07 Dec 2006 14:53

I dont know if this question was raised before but as far i looked for i could not find any.
I am about to buy a wheel or whatever device suits best for this game and want to learn if it makes a difference in gameplay like turning curves or Which kind/type of analogue device is commonly used etc etc. Are they really preferred ? (Money/cost is not an issue)
Any kind of suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

hi,
i wouldn`t use a wheel for tm or any other arcade racer, cause of the reaction time. a common pad or keyboard should be best to react on fast curves or chicanes.

It's gonna be personal preference as to type of controller...

I've got umpteen years using various racing wheels prior to TM even existing, so I spoiled on em...Couldn't drive with the keyboard or gamepad if you paid me...

(Well...maybe if you paid me...Anyone ?)

I use a Logitech-MOMO wheel, With brake and accelerate on the shifter paddles...6 extra buttons toggle horn/views/scoreboards, Shifter Lever for respawn and restart...

I keep the sensitivity fairly medium, and set it to hit opposite lock about 2/3's of the way thru the wheels actual motion...

I KNOW I'm slower on the "Most" technical stuff, But I think its an advantage on faster sweepier stuff.

If your really interested in fast reactions, or best response...Gamepads or even a joystick with a short throw your best bet...

But nothing beats a Wheel if you want that feel of "driving" something.

Spacey ;-)

I'm using a Logitech Rumblepad 2 USB - Analog sticks for steering and gas/brake. Love it!

I use a joystick, but a gamepad also seems to work well. As long as it's analog, it's fine. A wheel would be a bit too much though because you can't steer quickly with it. Maybe in island it would work, but in the other envs it would be too slow.

Heh, I can see your car doing a backflip as well... I was playing a Wii on Thanksgiving... Tennis to be exact. Out of knee-jerk reaction to return a wild hit from the computer on the other side of the court, I jumped and swung at the ball... my character on the screen repeated the action; jump and all. That's some cool technology. :)
