PHANTOM FAKE: AN IMPRESSIVE PRESS FOWARD

Post by Focushome » 04 Mar 2009 10:22

It took many months of daily work to "Ptitnono999" to achieve one of the most "Press Forward" track that we've seen so far: Phantom Fake...

He also gives us a 3min20 high quality video of his map on which are combined high speed, stunts and other impressive elements, all of this with remarkable smooth transitions. Congratulations to Ptitnono999 for this fantastic work and we strongly recommend you to try this "Press Forward".

I wonder: Since when does Stadium have red boosters? oO
But seriously impressive! If you didn't know it's a PF, it would be even more impressive (I'd should continue sending PF movies to people who don't know Trackmania, haha ;) )

I'll be the odd one out and say it needs work. Too industrial, too busy.

I can't believe somebody would take months of daily work to design a track where you do nothing but press forward the whole time and watch things fly at you.

Does look cool, though. Just need to work on the aesthetics a bit.

. . . and might wanna look into more frame look ahead on the video; the video stutters on my Core 2 Quad. Find somebody with an I7 & 12 GB memory to help render the frames.

Yeah - created video of a replay using DivX, and was able to get 1080p resolution with no stuttering at all. I've never used TM Tube before, so I don't know what formats they use or accept, but there are definitely other formats that won't stutter as much with high definition video.

Also, I'm thinking - you only use two camera angles, essentially? From the rear and from the front? I dunno if you've ever watched replays in GRID (another game) or played around with TM's more advanced mediatracker stuff, but you can pull off some cool shots with cameras. Don't be afraid to leave the vehicle every once in a while and play with the camera.

That is simply impossible!! No human being can drive like that. Now you confess, you are a robot or an extra-terrestrial being, aren't you?

I really am impressed .. hats off for you. IMPRESSIVE.

Cheers.

Well, I meant it seemed impossible to "drive" like that. I know he did and that is why I found it impressive. That calls for perfection, around 5 minutes of perfect driving aiming to specific exit points in those ramps so that he could jump, turn in the air, spin, fall in the right place, all minute orchestrated. That's what made me think the driver was not a human :-) Was he ?

Either you're joking all this time, or you really have no idea what a PF (press forward) track is.
