it's not an advantage beacause it's a beta and for the eswc cup in nations by nations, then you have no disavantage with german players because you will have the version at the same time :)
beta version fro french players its only a way to do test in competition condition and help a lan to start their tm nations tournaments

if we imagine a french drivers the 2 of july at the final , he will have drive no more than 8 days that the other.. and 8 days when ytou have 6 month to play what is it?

It's about 4.4%.

In a 60 second race, 4.4% is about 2.65 seconds.

I think most good TM racers would agree that 4.4% is quite a large gap. If the winners of TM Nations races typically win by a margin of more than 4%, I will be astonished.

Of course, these things cannot realistically be compared in a linear fashion, but I think it's fair to say that 4% is a non-trivial amount.

Another way of looking at it is that for top TM drivers, 6 hours practise a day is a realistic - maybe even a low - estimate. 8 days is 48 hours practise. It's quite a lot.

It really make a difference for 2-3 first weeks, yes, that's true. But after first weeks the real difference depends upon how many hours by week each one really play, and of course his natural level for that kind of game.
Or do you mean that those who started tms last april are all better than those who started in september ?...

What? Great, the international community is getting disadvantaged* again... I thought that would be over now because TMN was to make the TM series known internationally, but i guess i was wrong. Nadeo is still very very French...

It will make a large difference, and for the first few weeks the online ladder (if there is one) and with it maybe the whole game will be dominated by French players, who had quite a head start. The first week is the most important in learning to drive fast.
On the other hand, the other players can steal all the tricks with the physics (like steering on unsmooth bumps in Alpine) from the testers, and they can get up in the ladder fast by beating French players who already have 2000 points (only if the beta has the same ladder as the final version, of course).

But I don't know if there will even be a ladder... we don't have enough info :P

*hmm, i put another word there before, but i'd better change it... ;)

yep, zooz, thats the point, which makes me sad :/
after the international field of testers for tm sunrise extreme i thought, nadeo would be more open to unite the community overall. but i guess we thought wrong :(
what can test french players better than international testers? ;) i didnt got that... at least all of us (or nearly all) can communicate in english, so where is the problem?

then another question :P
who will get this beta? only people which subscribed for this LAN or all players registered in cyberleague?
(and then: can non-french drivers participate in the cyberleague? :P)

oops, it wasn't my intention to tell it like this... I've not heard about a belgiuan/dutch team being built up.. Actually I think this will have to work a bit in the other diraction.. not from nadeo to the users but from the users to nadeo. I believe I should make an official topic on our forum in which I ask what players want to join the league, I've not heard anything about this from nadeo yet.. but if we want to be participating early, we also have to come together as a community (i speak about belgian/dutch people).. then we can get somewhere....

BTW pansen it 's always have been like this that a select group of people could test alphas of any trackmania flavour, and then a public beta wil come around.. but I don't have the details about how this is going to be done for tmnations.. in fact I still have to ask :)

As far as i know, the beta ladders were never the official ones.
They were reset after the end of the beta.
Don't forget that the aim is to release it before the 27 january to debug it, if needed, and to let the players try it 2 weeks before the first french LAN, instead of 1 week.
I don't think that 1 week is really a great advantage... and it's mainly for debugging it, don't forget.
