Some Czech players knows maps Switch and Flow, which were little changed by Lamexil to be usable for ESWC. So maybe thats the reason, why many of them voted for this maps. In my opinion, ESWC Switch is great, and Flow is very good aswell... but its different, if you try every map for 5 min, or if you are racing that maps few hours. I havent time to try some many maps, so usually am not voting, but this 2 maps (with new parts) are really fine and I voted them aswell. I was warning before first voting, thats not so good system, choose maps by players. And BTW, true ESWC maps havent to be fine immediately, but more you are playing them, more you like them. Has to be quite hard, and challenging, even if TOP players train them for more then 2 months

Hello, I don't understand something ! In the first post, after the vote, one map is called :
- "icho", file : $i$36cH3$39fo$fff.Challenge.Gbx
and one map is called :
- "H 3 o +", file : $i$36cH3$39fo$fff+.Challenge.Gbx

But when I play these maps, they are the same ! In spite of the fact that file names are a little bit different ! Why please ?

___
I fully agree with Rapt, please try maps before voting even if 64 maps is a lot  !
I fully agree with Black too, to minimize size of such a list why not deciding to take maximum 2 or 3 maps by mapper in order to get a list with about 30-40 maps to try ?

Guykes wrote:This vote system sucks big time in my opinion. If you ask some friends to vote for your tracks, you can easily have the highest voted map. I doubt anyone tries all the maps (or even 50% of the maps). I'm not gonna try them all (actually, none), therefore I'm not gonna vote for any map(s), including my own maps. If they're not chosen, so be it. There are a lot of other great competitions.

i agree, they have to be challenging, and difficult
there are some maps (votes>14) which are too easy to learn or drive.
is it right, that only the admins have the right to choose all the maps (7) ?!

1. there will be 8 maps in trackpack
2. ofc maps shouldnt be too easy, but i DON'T want to see maps with "LUCK"-parts,... (too many of them in feb/march-pack)

What do you mean, Dennis, by all the maps ? All the maps they receive ? More than 64...
What's the meaning of "7" after maps, please : "all the maps (7)" ? I don't understand.

Switch and FLow with so many votes...
It's obvious all the noob friends voted for those maps.

I can't believe it..

Why don't the ESWC admins get some top players (who did well at eswc) to select the maps, or add some good players to the team to select maps?
The maps have been getting progressively worse lately with each mappack, and its a shame that a mapper can get his friends to vote for his maps, when neither he, nor his friends, are going to have to train those maps and play them at ESWC.

I seriously hope the ESWC admins can take this into account and find a better solution.

Sincerely

This current system isn't perfect but it allows everybody to participate in the vote. And if a track is really one of the best it isn't a few friends which will put it in the first place. Actually ESWC tests all tracks too before choosing the final 8 tracks.

The idea to let top players choose the tracks is a good one. However if we do that these players will have the huge advantage to know a few weeks before all others players which tracks will be used in tournaments. They will have a lot more times to praccy on it.

I am looking for a mixed system to try to improve the actual system.

The maps could be downloaded by everyone. Just few V.I.P players can vote on this forum.
Everyone could see which maps have lots of votes, and practice it as same time as voters.
The current system damages the reputation of ESWC.

How many people actually test all those maps though?
Its a very big pack..

And there are people on this thread who have admitted to voting and not trying the maps.
So it is quite a flawed system, and the top votes will normally be those of friends voting for a track.
Hopefully you can find the best solution..

NOBODY is going to test every track and pick the best ones. It simply doesn't work.

ET uses a group of admins of varying skill levels to test and vote on tracks. It's not perfect either, but it seems to work quite well. Maybe allow everyone to test the tracks, while only the 'admins' vote?

The highest number of votes here is 22. I could probably get 22 people to vote on my track (if there was one in the list). My team has almost 22 players i think, and i'm sure there are others who would help ^^

Really, the people who are best at deciding which maps are good to play a high level tournament on, is high level players.

so just do a multiple selection then?

-) public vote: all people can vote
-) admin vote: 15maps left, ~ 8 admins vote on the last maps to get the mappack (and results should be open for the public, so we can blame the admins :P)

"gg" :)
