Anyone remember the Arcade game Super Off-Road?
Guess what? I'm creating new tracks based on the game's original tracks.
I've just done the Huevos Grande track. Next up track for recreation is Big Dukes.
I also plan on including the Track Pack in the 2nd edition of the Arcade version.
I have also released the track May God Help You.
P.S. Although I've alreeady made some tracks, this is the first time I've released some public.
All the other tracks you may see someday. It depends if I can recover them from a bad hard drive.

TMNF is like Driven. You need to be as Zen is to Stallone.

Are you going to use a top-down view, so you get gameplay more similar to: Micro Machines/Death Rally/GeneRally/Rock N' Roll Racing/Championship Pro AM/etc.?

Re: Anyone remember the Arcade game Super Off-Road?
I made some simple Super Off Road tracks myself (Fandango, Huevos Grande and Sidewinder) and i tried to use a top-down camera view alike Micromachines / Championship Pro-AM but you can't recognize the height of the track with a top-down camera. I also tried to recreate the camera in Super Off Road but since this game isn't isometric, the far parts of the track becomes too small to be seen.
Example of the Top-down camera in Sidewinder track:

It's too bad that it doesn't work as well as hoped.Rafalapso wrote:I made some simple Super Off Road tracks myself (Fandango, Huevos Grande and Sidewinder) and i tried to use a top-down camera view alike Micromachines / Championship Pro-AM but you can't recognize the height of the track with a top-down camera. I guess the non-isometric issue is impossible to really solve.
If you zoomed the camera in a bit the perspective issue wouldn't be as bad.
Of course that means not seeing the whole track on screen at once, making it less similar to the original game.
Also that way it's impossible to see what's just outside of the screen, making it necessary to get familiar with all the corners in the track.
As for the height being hard to judge in the SOR tracks, perhaps choosing the Sunrise or Sunset mood would help?
That way the sun is lower, casting longer shadows, which may accentuate height differences better.
Re: Anyone remember the Arcade game Super Off-Road?
Here is my latest attempt at recreating the Super Off Road camera:

I just positioned the camera on top of the track in the middle, with a 90º pitch (directly looking down) and 90º fov to enhance the height perception.

This all looks great to me, any of these style tracks available at TMX? I wouldn't know how to search for them.

Re: Anyone remember the Arcade game Super Off-Road?
COOOOOOLLLL MAN! I like your Sidewinder, Raf. Did you try my Huevos Grande? What'd you think?
Also No Iso View. I wish I knew how to do the advanced stuff, but for now I'm sticking to making good recreations. Unfortunately, the blocks aren't being too forgiving.
Oh and of course they are TMX.
P.S. I'm Downloading your tracks and uploading my new ones. Big Dukes and BLASTER!
NOTE!
Um, ****. TMX is down. DAMN IT!

Re: Anyone remember the Arcade game Super Off-Road?
Finally, I will be adding more Off Road tracks to TMX. I've actually done a more balanced version (and easier) of Huevos Grande and created a couple other tracks on top of that. This will be a big update. Sorry for those waiting.

I fixed view would be more accurate than above. Make a track and then have one fixed view from above, angled a little just like the game.
ps. you can download the game here.

Re: Anyone remember the Arcade game Super Off-Road?
you know...if I had found this sooner I wouldn't have done all the ones already done... I was a huge fan of Super Off Road and even bought the SNES version. I just started working on some of the maps and go 4 done already. I didnt do the iso view cause personally it doesn't come out right...also I just wanted to get them done as quickly and accuately as possible so I could put them on my server for me and my firends to race on. one thing though is how am I supposed to put the water traps in!! T_T oh well....I got Fandango, Blaster, Huevos Grande, and Sidewinder done...hard to find the maps for them on google...guess im gonna have to boot up ye old SNES or use my ROM...(don't worry its been obtained by legal means)

When it comes to entertainment, games room, play is one of the most popular among children. And why not, these games offer much variety for people who carried the word that is never used to describe one of them. With much pleasure and enjoyment to your door, no reason to look out for anything else. Arcade games machines are electronic purse that can often be found at family restaurants, hotel rooms, games, and other public places.
