Any news from Sascha??
Hi all,
I was wondering if anybody has heard from Sascha...
He has not connected to TM-forum since 22nd October, tmbase.de forum (his RCP web site) is being spammed like hell, and the HAL'KO servers don't seem to exists anymore (HAL-KO.de doesn't list any servers - the links points nowhere, and the teamspeak servers seem to be out of reach)...
Thanks in advance
Corto

Re: Any news from Sascha??
Hi Corto,
hi all,
well here I'm.
I'm little bit bussy coding other things, playing other games and changed to a new apartment beginning of this month ... so no internet for some time ^^
Further ... I really missed all the trackmania related informations the last month and I have no clue whats up with the next TM and such things.
Regarding rcp ... I started with rcp5 some time ago, but missed to continue until now.
I'll check if there is some need for continuing the rcp project or if other ppl. come with better solutions that don't make any further effort into rcp nessesary.
Would be nice if somebody could give me a quick overview about all the new things happend since october ^^
Best regards
Sascha

Re: Any news from Sascha??
Hi Sascha,
Nice to see you on the forums, as far as i can tell this is all that's happened since then:
-TM2 Beta is a little late but moving slowly i think (should be this quater we hope, as expected late november/early december)
-The advert revenue closure produced "FREEZONE" where people are free to moan that they have had everything for free and now can't i guess xD ...This is basically the end of the old Nations/ESWC model for the present.
-Manialive begins building (some kindof server script on its way collecting records from freezone servers and building for TM2 also i guess).
That's the only big things i guess, we are all awaiting news on whats to happen with freezone and TM2 ..

Hi Sascha,
Welcome back, good to hear from you.
On the ManiaLive front, and just to complete Jamie's post, it is a complete new server script, which makes use of the ManiaLib released by Nadeo
I suspect it prepares the way for TM2, looking at the people involved
(see here for more info)

thx, but I think this will be short time visit.corto-72 wrote:Hi Sascha,

I had a look on the manialive yesterday and I don't like it that much.corto-72 wrote:I suspect it prepares the way for TM2, looking at the people involved

Don't exactly know why, but all the effort the servertool author's did in the past has been dropped into the trash can with manialive. Not because I think its extremly good, more because nadeo is behind this. Why should anybody use a other tool than the more or less official one? Really frustrating ...
I will continue rcp 5 just because its fun right now ... if I release it someday, maybe or maybe not ... don't know^^

Re: Any news from Sascha??
Can't say how much I agree on that. However I've already been quite unfriendly when the FreeZone started and since none of the uninvolved controller authors expressed their opinions I decided not to comment it..hal|Sascha wrote:Don't exactly know why, but all the effort the servertool author's did in the past has been dropped into the trash can with manialive. Nice to hear that. Rcp 4 looks very well done to me.. I don't know if it's too offtopic here, but I think it would be cool to have exchangeable configuration sources. I once tried to modify rcp to use a db as user and server data sources, but I failed and after some code reading I figured that it'd be way easier for me to just autogenerate the xml files.hal|Sascha wrote:I will continue rcp 5 just because its fun right now ... if I release it someday, maybe or maybe not ... don't know^^

Hey Sascha,
I don't know if you know that IE9 released today.
But IE9 can't show the 'ajax classes' as well.
But i hope you can fix this in RCP5 or something
.
Kind regards,
Quad

Hey Sascha,
Please don't give up on RCP.
I would even pay for it. ^^
Looking forward to your TM2 solution. On the first look, there are not many differences between TM2 and TMF dedicated. Hope, we will read a good (release)news here soon.
Regards

I'm currently working on rcp5 but will take some more time until any releasable state.
I'll release a unofficial non-supported fixed version of rcp4 for tm2 soon, maybe tomorrow

So far I'm still here^^

Re: Any news from Sascha??
Since Sascha is very busy at the moment, I modified his awesome RCP so that it can remotely controll TM²-servers (with his approval of course).
